It was a very exciting weekend. One of those that every author really hopes for.
Friday I ran a promo on War in the Streets, the fifth short story in Stories from the War. Amazon recently (as in last Monday) price matched it to the free listing on B&N and iTunes. Still, even giving away a book you never know how these things will go.
It went very well.
So well in fact, War in the Streets hit number 1 in War! And boy, that is just fun to say too. I mean, if you could pick any genre to be #1 in, what would you take? I don’t know if War would have been the first on my list, but it is so surprising that I find it humorous. And awesome. 🙂
Add to that receiving a confirmation email that my books held by a small publisher would be released over the weekend – two days earlier than agreed so that I could initiated my republishing… and, well, I was a very happy little girl!
Sunday morning, my titles reverted back to me and I got to spend several hours uploading to all platforms – and releasing the new covers! What do you think?
If anyone else is going through a similar process and has questions, let me know. Overall, it went very smoothly and Amazon had the reviews from the original books transferred over within 10 hours and had price matched Born of Water as a free listing again within 24. Seriously the people over at the KDP help desk are awesome!
And with that, I’m back in business with all of my titles under one bookshelf – and more coming out. Friday is the launch of the 6th short story from Stories from the War, New Heir! With all of this uploading, some webpage building, and marketing, the writing has been slow. But work is continuing on Spark of Defiance and final edits continue on After the War, the next book in Friends of my Enemy. After the War has a release date of July 3rd… which means that I really need to get to work on the cover!
I’m looking forward to this two week release schedule on the short stories to end (only two more after this Friday!) so that I’ll feel a little less hectic. As much as I miss my main focus being writing, learning the marketing aspect of publishing is definitely rewarding too. Once it isn’t so new and so consuming, I’m sure the writing will pick up again.
Have a great week!
