One more chapter.
That is it. All I have to write to finish the first draft of Spark of Defiance, book 1 of my new epic fantasy trilogy Games of Fire is one more chapter. And maybe a tweak of an older one. Then lots of editing… but lets just pause and celebrate finishing the first draft of book 1!
I wouldn’t call Games of Fire a sequel to the Rise of the Fifth Order, but it does take place in the same world and involves many of the same characters. The setting begins six months after the end of Spirit of Life and boy, I can’t wait to clean up those first couple of chapters to share! Stay tuned for that!
But that is a little ways off, as is the release. I want to at least write the rough drafts of all three books. And it takes me about three months to write a book, if not longer, so we are looking at a release of spring of 2016 most likely. But I hope to release the whole series in 2016, so there is that at least to look forward to!
I haven’t done one of these update posts in awhile and it is surprising how much is going on. I’m working on the final edits to book 3 of Friends of my Enemy and release of that – or pre-order at least – will be sometime in September.
I’ve also been working on new paperback versions of all of my novels. I just approved the paperback of Spirit of Life this week! Born of Water, Rule of Fire, and book 1 and 2 of Friends of my Enemy are all already available in paperback! I have only the Born of Water Novel Companion and my adventure travel book Danger Peligros to format for paperback and then I’ll have caught up with my backlog… about the time I release book 3 in Friends of my Enemy. huh.
One of the new projects that I think is REALLY cool though is that Born of Water is going to be an audio book – my first audio book in fact! Check out its page on ACX here. Narrator Jerry Villegas and I are teaming up to make the audio version and I’m really excited to be working with him. His audition was great and I really recommend listening to the clips on his page on ACX! Then you’ll be as excited about the project as I am!
And lastly when you think I couldn’t possibly fit anymore into my schedule, I have two other projects that should be mentioned.
Like did you know I’m working on a how to write fantasy book?
It is currently titled Writing Fantasy and is another project that I’m very excited about. A lot of it is drafted and I’ve given though to the cover, which means it is very much a go in terms of getting out the door. I’m hoping to launch that and a lot of extras that go with it later this fall. Maybe in time for Nanowrimo! Hmmm… That would be a very cool goal.
And speaking of covers, and maps, and paperback formatting actually, I’m planning on offering those services starting this fall as well. I’m working on building the webpages and forms. Well, the designs are in my head and I’ll actually build them as soon as I finish formatting my last paperbacks… but they are coming!
So if you like my covers or maps or are curious about any of the above projects and want to ask me a question, head over to my contact page and send it in! It really does work and I really do answer. 🙂
I hope your summer is going awesome!
