I knew it would happen. I warned you! So yes, last week’s writing goals fell far short.
But I did release a book!
And that was exciting to finally begin the releases to my next series, the military dystopian Friends of my Enemy. And those will be coming pretty quick as I’m releasing a new short story from Stories from the War every two weeks. And all for free! It will take until the beginning of June to release the eight of the eleven that will be free. Talk about a way of staying busy during mud season here in Maine. 🙂
And I’m taking a great marketing course that I hope will up my writing/author’s platform to the next level. Whatever that is. Or means… I should get back to that course! lol.
And so I didn’t finish three chapters in the Fight for Peace last week. I made it through two and even then stalled in Chapter 25. I’ve been writing enough that I knew the problem was that I wasn’t allowing myself to really be absorbed by the character and plot. I was staying on the surface, picking away, but really distracted by other things. That chapter will require editing. Happily, I kicked everything into gear and made huge headway on Chapter 26. I’m almost, almost, to the big crises. I can’t wait!
My main goal is still to finish the Fight for Peace by the end of March. But because I’m finishing edits on the short stories and formatting them for release, plus I want to get the entire collection ready for pre-order ASAP, and need to get back to edits on book 2, the Battle for Europe, because I have a beta reader plowing through book 1, After the War, oh and there is that course I’m taking… well I’ve cut back my goal to a mere two chapters a week with hoped for time to continue work on Spark of Defiance.
Not an ideal decision, but I’m not a full time writer. And I already have a tenuous hold on my sanity…!
I hope the weather is lovely wherever you call home… and if not, you are curled up somewhere comfortable with a great book! 😉
