Friend and fellow author, Joshua K. Johnson has launched a Kickstarter campaign to get his e-novel into print. I’m fascinated by the concept of Kickstarter and really thrilled to see it being put to use to help an author achieve their dream . . . if he can get there! I asked Joshua a few questions about his goal and why. Check out the interview below:

1. Your novel, the Cerebrus Rebellion came out June 25, 2012 on Amazon as an e-novel. Now you are looking to produce a print version. Why are you interested in print and what benefit do you think you’ll gain over only the e-novel?
I’ve heard from a great number of people, both in person and online, that they still prefer the experience of a paper book. Adding additional readers is always a good thing.
I want to use Createspace because it’s easier to integrate with the rest of the services offered by Amazon.
Well, right off the top 10% will go to Kickstarter and Amazon for payment fees. So that’s $50.
Approximately $100 will go to getting the cover redone for the print version.
Another $125 for reformatting and an additional proofreading pass to make sure there’s no print-specific issues.
The remaining $225 will go to the first full print run and getting the Backer Rewards shipped.
The project will run until March 30, 2013 and one of my blog readers has offered to match all pledges dollar for dollar up to $250 (so half of the total amount). Any additional funds will go towards the production of The Cerberus Rebellion as an audiobook and creation of cover art for The Hydra Offensive, the sequel to The Cerberus Rebellion.

Thanks for the interview, Joshua! Check out his Kickstarter campaign at :http://kck.st/T42jkb. I’ve put in my $10 to support him, heck I even get a copy of the book if he makes it. I’d spend that much at my local bookstore anyway! So if you have a couple of bucks around, why don’t you help an author make it into print?
